A bouquet I created that just kept me thinking of a Victorian era.

This is available as a fine art paper print or as canvas wall art.

In Victorian times, flower bouquets were far more than decorative arrangements; they served as intricate tools for communication. This practice, known as "floriography," allowed people to convey emotions and messages in an era where direct expression of feelings was often socially constrained.

Each flower carried a specific meaning, creating a "language" that was meticulously cataloged in popular flower dictionaries. This arrangement I created has dahlias, lisianthus, and celosia. So, for example, dahlias symbolized elegance and dignity, while lisianthus conveyed appreciation and gratitude, and celosia represented passion or boldness.

The popularity of floriography arose from the Victorians' fascination with nature and the arts. Books and magazines frequently featured flower meanings, helping people craft bouquets as nuanced messages.

I could not imagine living in a time where it was socially unacceptable to be direct with someone. If I lived back then, I would probably become notorious for the types of arrangements I might send someone!
